The Eritrean-American Community Association of Orange County has a long history of participating in various activities that aimed at uniting Eritreans to work together in preserving their identity. These activities go back to the pre-independence (1991) years and continued in for most of the 1990s.

In August 2006 a few members of the community decided to take this rich history of helping one another and caring for the less fortunate to the next level. The community association was reorganized into a membership based non-profit entity and is now in engaged in creating a forum for accomplishing its declared mission.

The community association is now in its second year. It now boasts over 100 dedicated members. After a successful first year, a new board was elected in September 2007 to lead the community into its next phase.

Adult and child education are among the top priorities for 2008. Several family oriented fun activities are also planned.
